Attorney Aaron Lawee Promoted to Partner

Minsky, McCormick & Hallagan, P.C. is proud to announce that attorney Aaron Lawee has been promoted to Partner.

Aaron has dedicated himself to immigration law since his first summer internship at Georgetown University Law Center in 2008. After graduating law school in 2010, he worked at two other Chicago-based immigration law firms before joining Minsky, McCormick & Hallagan, P.C. in September of 2019. Aaron is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association: he has spoken at national and regional conferences, has served on several government liaison committees, and currently co-chairs the Chicago chapter’s Litigation Committee. Aaron also supervises the immigration attorneys at Beyond Legal Aid, a local nonprofit organization. He was named a Rising Star in Immigration by Super Lawyers Magazine from 2017-2023, was ranked by Forbes as one of the best immigration lawyers in Chicago in 2025, and was listed on Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch in America” for 2026. 

Aaron focuses his practice on family-based immigration and humanitarian immigration. He has extensive experience handling applications for asylum, humanitarian visas, waivers, applications for permanent residency and naturalization. He also regularly practices before the immigration courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), defending clients against removal or deportation and also handles federal litigation matters.
