Tahreem Kalam is a Principal at Minsky, McCormick & Hallagan, P.C. (MMH), where she focuses her practice on employment-based immigration, global mobility, and complex immigration matters for businesses, professionals, and families. She advises multinational corporations, entrepreneurs, and individuals on a wide range of immigration strategies, including temporary work visas, permanent residence, and citizenship matters. Tahreem is an expert in non-immigrant work visa petitions such as H-1B Visas, L-1 intercompany transfer visas, TN work visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and employment-based Green Cards, including the PERM labor certification process and EB-1 Managerial or Executives for Green Cards. She works with various business clients, from small local employers to Fortune 500 multinational corporations across multiple industries, including technology, healthcare, manufacturing, finance, engineering, and architecture. She has significant experience working with IT professionals, Actuaries, Accountants, Architects, and high-level Executives. Her practice also covers Religious Workers under the R-1 visa category, ranging from Priests, Imams and Nuns, and family-based immigration, including marriage-based green cards and citizenship and naturalization applications.

One of the youngest partners in the firm’s history, Tahreem has played a significant role in MMH’s growth and evolution, helping expand the firm’s capabilities while advancing its technology, operations, and long-term strategic vision. Her leadership extends beyond legal advocacy to the continued modernization of the firm’s systems, processes, and client service model.

In addition to her legal practice, Tahreem is a frequent speaker on legal technology, artificial intelligence, and law firm innovation. She helps shape the firm’s strategic vision for technology and operations, overseeing innovation initiatives that strengthen client service, improve operational excellence, and ensure MMH remains a trusted leader in an evolving immigration landscape.

Tahreem strives to provide her clients with excellent communication and fast turnarounds while building the strongest case possible. Having gone through the immigration process herself, Tahreem can relate to clients’ needs and concerns and understands the life-changing opportunities that come with the U.S. Immigration process for individuals and their families for generations to come.

She has been named a Rising Star in Immigration by Super Lawyers Magazine every year since 2017 and has been awarded Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch since 2024. She serves on notable AILA Chicago Committees such as liaison with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.

While in law school, Tahreem worked for a Chicago family law firm and clerked for the Circuit Court of Cook County in the Domestic Relations Division and the Chancery Division. Tahreem also volunteered to mentor and tutor adolescent refugee girls to guide them in adjusting to their new life in the United States.
