Tahreem Kalam serves as a Principal attorney at Minsky, McCormick & Hallagan, P.C. She has been named a Rising Star in Immigration by Super Lawyers Magazine every year since 2017 and has been awarded Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch since 2024. She serves on notable AILA Chicago Committees such as liaison with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.
Tahreem practices all aspects of immigration law with a passion for employment-based immigration law. Tahreem is experienced in non-immigrant work visa petitions such as H-1B Visas, L-1 intercompany transfer visas, TN work visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and employment-based Green Cards, including the PERM labor certification process and EB-1 Managerial or Executives for Green Cards. She works with various business clients, from small local employers to Fortune 500 multinational corporations across multiple industries, including technology, healthcare, manufacturing, finance, engineering, and architecture. She has significant experience working with IT professionals, Actuaries, Accountants, Architects, and high-level Executives. Her practice also covers Religious Workers under the R-1 visa category, ranging from Priests, Imams and Nuns, and family-based immigration, including marriage-based green cards and citizenship and naturalization applications.
Tahreem strives to provide her clients with excellent communication and fast turnarounds while building the strongest case possible. Having gone through the immigration process herself, Tahreem can relate to clients’ needs and concerns and understands the life-changing opportunities that come with the U.S. Immigration process for individuals and their families for generations to come.
Prior to joining the firm, Tahreem practiced individual and family-based immigration law at another local Chicago firm. While in law school, Tahreem worked for a Chicago family law firm and clerked for the Circuit Court of Cook County in the Domestic Relations Division and the Chancery Division. Tahreem also volunteered to mentor and tutor adolescent refugee girls to guide them in adjusting to their new life in the United States.
Tahreem is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She graduated from DePaul University College of Law in 2013.
