Ana Valenzuela

Senior Attorney

Ana Valenzuela is a Senior Attorney and joined Minsky, McCormick & Hallagan, P.C. in 2021. Ana’s practice areas include removal defense and family-based immigration, including family-based petitions, waivers, adjustments of status, and naturalization. Her practice also includes asylum, U-visas, and VAWA self-petitions.

Ana has practiced immigration law in the Chicago area since 2015. Before joining Minsky, McCormick & Hallagan, P.C., Ana was a supervising attorney with the National Immigrant Justice Center’s Immigrant Legal Defense Project, supervising a team of lawyers and paralegals. She also supervised the Immigration Court Helpdesk.

Ana received a bachelor’s degree in political science and international studies from Northwestern University. While in law school, Ana was an intern with LAF’s Immigration Project and an extern with NIJC’s Adult Detention Project. She was also President of the Society for Asylum and Immigration Law (SAIL). Ana volunteered for a week at the South Texas Pro Bono Asylum Representation Project (ProBAR) in Harlingen, Texas.

Ana is an active member of the Chicago Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and was named a Rising Star in Immigration by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2024. Ana previously worked at our firm as a legal assistant from 2006 to 2012.
